How do I run Windows (.exe) programs on EQuilibrium?
If there’s a Windows game or other app you just can’t do without, you can use Wine to run it right on EQuilibrium.
You can easily install Wine 3 through the Discover software center, but and install the latest version of Wine 4.0 as follows.
More than 26,000 Windows apps and games are compatible with Wine 4.0, including well-known software like Photoshop and Microsoft Office, and popular games like StarCraft, Counterstrike and Team Fortress.
How to Install Wine 4.0 on EQuilibrium?
To upgrade or install Wine 4.0 on EQuilibrium run the following commands in a new terminal window, but do so carefully. (If you have a different Wine PPA or repo installed you should remove it before proceeding.)
Open Terminal (Konsole).
Copy from highlighted fields (copy / paste) to Terminal.
First, let’s download the Wine repository key:
wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
And then add it:
sudo apt-key add winehq.key
Add this repo:
sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ bionic main'
sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
Wine 4.0 is ready right now. You install the software by clicking the .exe icon as in Windows.
